BLACKBURN ROVERS forward Jason Roberts calls more action to happen to help eradicate racism from English football.

The 33-year-old Grenada international admits that racism in English football has died down compared to yesteryear, but still thinks more needs to be done.

The former Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion striker told BBC Radio 5 Live:

"Is it something that used to happen all the time? Absolutely.

"In my 14-year career, I've had it numerous times. More times than I can count.

"It has certainly slowed down recently but the battle isn't won. People still need educating.

"There was an element that that's just the way it is but I would like to think we've moved on from that.”

Roberts added: "My uncle, Cyrille Regis, who played in the 70s and 80s, put up with disgusting abuse.

"I think in this day and age we need to change that. It's not acceptable."
