LIGHTENING SPEED: Ida Keeling races in the 100m dash at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia

A GREAT-great grandmother has set a new 100m sprint record - at the tender age of 100.

Running enthusiast Ida Keeling isn't slowing down for anyone. The 100-year-old runner stole the crowd with her one minute, 17.33second 100m dash Saturday afternoon (Apr 30) at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, speeding her way to a world record.

Keeling is the official holder of the record for the fastest 100m by a woman 100 years or older. According to reports, there is no data on USA Track & Field or masters-athletics websites for a previous record holder.

"I'll be 101 in a couple of weeks,” Keeling told NBC Sports after the race. “I’ve never seen nothing like this crowd. Maybe that’s what the excitement was."

And Keeling has some advice for those who may be wondering how she does it: “Love yourself, do what you have to do and what you want to do,” she said. "Eat for nutrition, not for taste. And exercise at least once a day."
