TARGETED: Marvin Sordell
SIX ARRESTS were made after a derogatory banner aimed at Bolton Wanderers footballer Marvin Sordell was unfurled by Millwall supporters at The Den on November 10.
The banner that was directed at Sordell - who was the victim of racial abuse at the stadium last month – said “Sordell is a c***”.
A Metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed that six men were arrested on suspicion of public order offences and have been bailed until early December.
A 13-year-old boy previously admitted that he verbally abused Marvin Sordell during a Championship match on October 6.
The 21-year-old Sordell used social media website Twitter to make aware of the fact he and several Bolton team-mates - Lee Chung-Young, Darren Pratley and Benik Afobe – had been subjected to racist abuse.
The teenager was banned from Millwall matches “for the foreseeable future” and offered Sordell an apology in a letter.
Sordell accepted the apology.
