Awards set to honour leading Christian women

PERFORMANCE: Lurine Cato

THE 2013 Wise Women Awards, the only event in the UK to celebrate the impact of Christian women in the church and society, promises to be a memorable occasion.

Scheduled to be held at the London Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel, on March 9, special guests lined up for this year’s awards include Olympian Christine Uhuruogu, Shauna Muamba, wife of ex-footballer Fabrice Muamba and leading comedienne Angie Le Mar who’ll also be the host.

Dionne Gravesande of Christian Aid will give a motivational talk, whilst Lurine Cato, Dayo Bello and ClifnMarie will provide the entertainment.

However, it’s the awards ceremony where both nominees and award winners are recognised that make the Wise Women Awards special. This year nominees, from across the UK, include BBC Radio Leicester presenter  Dulcie Dixon, Adelaide McKenzie of new artiste showcase Blessed Souls, and Tessa Ojo, CEO of the Diana Awards.

Pastor Marjorie Esomowei, founder of the Wise Women Awards, said: “We're really pleased that this year we have received even more nominations.  It highlights that people recognise the WWA and celebrate the good work being carried out by Christian women that’s impacting lives."

Shirley McGreal, publisher of Keep The Faith magazine, co-organiser of the event said: “The nominees come from a wide range of denominations in locations throughout the UK, and serve to highlight the breadth and depth of the work Christian women are carrying out across the country."
