GREATER MANCHESTER police have arrested a man who allegedly blackmailed Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.

The incident, according to the The Daily Mail, involved photographs of the Italian international at a nightclub on March 11.

City reported the man to the police.

A spokesman for Manchester City said: “We take a hard line against any individuals who attempt to commit blackmail against the club and the matter is now in the hands of the police.”

"Police are investigating after an allegation of blackmail was made by a Premier League football club,” said a Great Manchester Police spokesperson.

"A man has been arrested and bailed. Inquiries are ongoing."
