Big Narstie and Mo Gilligan to host new Channel 4 show

COMING TO A SCREEN NEAR YOU: Big Narstie

CHANNEL 4 has commissioned Expectation to produce The Big Narstie Show, which will star the grime star alongside co-host Mo Gilligan, to present a late night, alternative entertainment show.

In the non-broadcast pilot, Narstie and Gilligan will be joined by celebrity guests as they present original, straight-talking segments on the news of the week, TV, showbiz, trends, phone-ins, and food.

The news follows a big year for both stars. In 2017, Big Narstie took part in two of Channel 4's most popular programmes for young audiences - Gogglebox: Celebrity Special for Stand Up To Cancer and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2017, which attracted 38.8% and 34.6% share of 16-34 year old viewers respectively, more than doubling Channel 4's slot average.

CO-HOST: Mo Gilligan

Meanwhile, Gilligan embarked on a national tour last year, and announced more dates for 2018.

Syeda Irtizaali, Commissioning Editor, Channel 4 said:, “We’re thrilled to work with Big Narstie again, as it’s clear from his previous Channel 4 appearances that he is en route to becoming something of a national treasure. It really feels like an opportunity for a brilliant and ridiculous show which flips the conventional magazine show format on its head.”

Ben Wicks, Creative Director, Comedy Entertainment at Expectation and Executive Producer, added: “Big Narstie is an incredibly talented, charismatic, charming and funny man who has some of the best turns of phrase the English language has ever known.

"We are very excited about working with him, and Mo Gilligan, the most must-see comedian on the circuit whose inimitable high-energy style is sure to take TV by storm. This is a show I cannot wait to watch let alone make.”

The episode was commissioned for Channel 4 by Ed Havard, Head of Entertainment with Syeda Irtizaali, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Events and Shaminder Nahal, Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual. It is an Expectation production, executive produced by Ben Wicks and series produced by Aoife Bower.
