BLACK FRIDAY: Shopping at black-owned businesses

TODAY MARKS the infamous Black Friday (Nov 23) - the opportunity to shop until we drop, indulge in a few of our favourite things and buy more for less.

Whilst we prepare to search for our best bargains, we must ask the question - how many of us will be buying black today?

Investing funds back into the black community is a form of self preservation and an opportunity for us to prosper, and while the sales of our favourite high street brands maybe calling us, buying black provides various benefits beyond that quick trip to your local Topshop.

You’re more likely to find unique pieces when shopping at boutique black brands. Whether its clothing and accessories to arts & crafts - you’re more inclined to find one of a kind pieces created by black people for black people. What’s not to love?

Buying from black-owned brands allows you to take something home you love whilst feeling good about putting money back into a homegrown business. Supporting little known companies - especially from black business owners - allows you to feel even more satisfied with your purchase, and who doesn’t love a guilt-free shopping spree!

The H&Ms, River Islands' and online fast fashion brands make enough money on a day to day basis. Dare to be different and stray away from the crowd!

Below, we’ve listed some black-owned businesses who’ve got some great Black Friday deals going this weekend. Happy shopping!
