Black Magic Awards announce their 2019 honourees

THE BLACK Magic Awards today (Aug 20) announced the official honouree selection for its third annual women’s edition. Returning to London’sCriterion Theatre on Monday 7 October (2019), the glittering awards ceremony celebrates the amazing accomplishments of black women that are standing up, showing up and changing the game across TV, film, music, business, comedy, sports, fashion, and the community.

This year's ceremony will be hosted by comedian and presenter Judi Love. The straight-talking powerhouse is one of the UK’s most stand-out up-and-coming performers and her brilliantly engaging wit and humour is guaranteed to keep the audience entertained.

Founded in 2017 by comedian, actor and film producer Kojo Anim and content creator and entrepreneur Annika Allen, the Black Magic Awards is dedicated to recognising the epitome of black excellence.

Honourees already announced include; Hollywood actress Letitia Wright, campaigner and mother of Stephen Lawrence, Doreen Lawrence OBE, writer, author and broadcaster Afua Hirsch, social media influencer Patricia Bright, singer Beverley Knight MBE, England netballer's Sasha & Kadeen Corbin and presenter Moira Stewart.

Following the success of the past two years with the women’s Black Magic Awards, which saw the likes of Emeli Sande, Angellica Bell, Munroe Bergdorf, Angela Griffin, Vanessa Kingori MBE, Gina Yashere, Angie Le Mar and Yolanda Brown turn up to collect their honours, this year will see the magic continue throughout the month of October with other activations including film screenings, women's empowerment sessions, a comedy night and much much more.

Annika Allen, co-founder of The Black Magic Awards says: "This year, in edition to honouring the incredible women we are handing out the awards to, we're celebrating the entire black community during Black History Month by bringing them together for exceptional experiences, conversations and creative opportunities to creative an unforgettable month."
