Bobby Brown to release first album in 14 years

CHANGES: Bobby Brown, left, at the height of his career and, right, the singer now

SINGER BOBBY Brown has announced that he is to release a new album, the first in 14 years, next month.

The 43-year-old former New Edition band member, who revealed that the album will be called Masterpiece, has reportedly claimed that his turbulent lifestyle is to blame for his musical hiatus.

Brown, who has suffered with drug addition in the past, told The Today Show: "When you're working on yourself, you have to really concentrate on working on yourself and it takes a back seat to what you want to do and what I'm gonna do."

"But I'm going to do better in the near future. I just want to get back to what I do, which is entertainment, and this is the start to me getting back to what I want to do," he added.

Brown went on to say that his latest musical offering, which he started working on last year, is 'the best album' he has made in his career so far.

During the candid interview Brown also denied that he introduced his late ex-wife and superstar, Whitney Houston, to drugs.
