AWARD-WINNING Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom is the fifth celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

The announcement was made this morning (Aug 12) on the Kiss FM Breakfast Show, where Odoom confirmed he will be taking part in the brand new series.

“I’m honoured to be part of Strictly 2016! I’m looking forward to learning some new moves of course….but basically it’s the sequins that clinched it for me. I need sparkle in my life and there’s nothing more sparkly that Strictly. I just hope that my dance partner isn’t too tall!” said Odoom, who is of Ghanaian heritage.

The former Xtra Factor host will go toe-to-toe against BBC news and sports presenter Ore Oduba.

Oduba was added to the line-up yesterday (Aug 11).

"I'm still waiting for someone to wake me up and tell me I'm dreaming!" said Oduba. "I've been such a huge fan of the show for over a decade. So to actually take to the Strictly stage myself, I don't think I've been more nervously excited - aside from on my wedding day. Let's hope for fewer tears! I cannot wait to get started, it's going to be so much fun."

The sports broadcaster is a regular face on BBC Breakfast and is currently in Rio presenting on the 2016 Olympic Games, anchoring daily coverage each evening on BBC Four.

He learnt his trade on children’s television as an anchor of CBBC’s Newsround and Sportsround before going on to present a variety of BBC programmes including the Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations on Commonwealth Day, EastEnders: Backstage Live, the London Marathon, and he kicked off 2016 by presenting the New Year celebrations at Big Ben to over thirteen million people on BBC One.

Odoom and Oduba join Ed Balls, Will Young and Laura Whitmore who have already been announced as contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
