IT’S ALMOST time for the UK Rumble – a clash featuring six of the best sounds this Saturday (June 17) in Leicester, with only one of them coming away as undisputed champion.

What would a big head-to-head be like without the tale of the tape? Here is the official This is Brukout! fact file ahead of some behind-the-scenes gossip in next week’s column:

Sound Name: Little Sample

Hometown: Huddersfield

Line-up: Big Mac, Fire Child, Mr. Mention, Slipe Bashment, DJ Sway, Nicky P and Iceman

History: Started in Jamaica in 1999, UK relaunch in 2003.

Q: What makes you potential champions?

A: We’ve put a lot of work in, we’ve played with the biggest in the scene, so it’s our time now. We deserve to be here.

Q: Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: To be honest, we have never come out on top against any of the top sounds, but we have held our own. We’ve killed Classique and Will Powa here in the UK.

Q: Parting shot to other competitors:

A: You best be ready…because we are.

Sound Name: Natural Affair

Hometown: Telford

Line-up: Squiddly, Junior P, Fire Ras, Selector Alli, Ben 100

History: Started in summer 1997. We played before then, but that was when we got serious.

What makes you potential champions?

A: We have more experience than the rest of the sounds on the big stage. We’ve travelled the world and do this every week.

Q: Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: One I will not forget is coming out on top against Tek 9 Movement and Rootsman.

Q: Parting shot to other competitors:

A: I hope they are ready and their dub boxes are loaded, because ours definitely are!

Sound Name: Classique

Hometown: Manchester

Line-up: Doctor C, Meant To Kill, Flex, Ganzie, Untouchable, Mikey, Danger, Harlem and Ali.

History: We operate in the UK, USA and Jamaica – no franchise. We started in 1999 in Manchester and launched as a juggling sound. In 2003 we first clashed in Nottingham at Winner Takes All, then we did UK clash in London before going to World Clash in New York. The Jamaica side of the sound launched in 2006.

Q: What makes you potential champions?

A: Our entertainment value, a versatile dub box and team, and consistent juggling.

Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: 2011 in Jamaica – Ricky Trooper, Black Blunt, Dexter Pepper, Matterhorn, Foota Hype and Trophy Sniper.

Parting shot to other competitors:

A: Classique nah business – everybody dead!

Sound Name: Immortal

Hometown: Birmingham

Line-up: One Ras, Tyrone Melody, KMD, DJ Melody, DJ Slim, Platinum Hype, Tanto and Mr. Magic

History: Started in 1999 by Tyrone Melody.

Q: What makes you potential champions?

A: We have the experience, and that’s what counts. It’s not what you have, it’s what you know.

Q: Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: In the UK clash we killed Bass Odyssey and Black Kat, among others.

Parting shot to other competitors:

A: You t'ink ah chattings?

Sound Name: Platinum Kartel

Hometown: London

Line-up: Chalice Nya, Strokey, Tami Kartel, Jeego and Jooksy

History: Platinum Kartel was set up in 1999. I fell out of love with the music for a while in the early 2000s, but started playing music again and clashing in 2010.

Q: What makes you potential champions?

A: We dare to play what others don’t. We don’t do mediocre!

Q: Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: I-Schence and Northern Lights – two Italian sounds.

Parting shot to other competitors:

A: Our philosophy to war is to be victorious – otherwise we just don’t bother doing it.

Sound Name: XtaC 4x4

Hometown: Birmingham

Line-up: Markie G, DJ Prince, Yardie K, Xylo, Father Demo and DJ Hypes

History: We started in 1995 as a juggling sound, and used to voice local artists just like they were big artists. We started to take it seriously from 2003.

Q: What makes you potential champions?

A: Because we’ve kicked off most of the sounds on this line-up already.

Q: Who is the biggest scalp for your sound to date?

A: The last time I went up against Immortal we beat them, so I class that as our biggest victory.
