CLIMATE CHANGE FOR KIDS: Writer Ifeoma Onyeful

A NEW play is making the topic of climate change kid-friendly.

No Water in the Jungle, by acclaimed writer, Ifeoma Onyeful, is coming to London between August 5 and 11 as part of the Camden Fringe Festival.

The play, staged by north London-based children’s theatre company Snaggletooth Productions, tells the story of a motley crew of five animals – Dog (Ricarda Ruff), Hippo (Karolina duda), Lion (Anton Stennett), Tortoise (Kamali Freedman) and Elephant (Amali Jazeel) – in their collective struggle to fight the fallouts from one of the greatest existential threats of our time – climate change.

The show contains catchy new songs, specially written by Mini Beat creator Caroline Chan for the play. It is aimed at kids aged 1 – 9 years.

“It is refreshing to be reminded of a traditional writing style, akin to the classical works of our early African playwrights. D Olu Olagoke's Incorruptible Judge immediately sprung to mind whilst reading Ifeoma Onyefulu’s work,” Femi Elufowoju Jr, the director of The Secret Lives Of Baba Segi's Wives said.

Snaggletooth Productions puts children at the heart of its creativity to entertain and spark the imagination. Directed by Lizeth Ramirez, associate producer Sarah Breen, assistant director Lata Nobes.
