NEW ROLE: British actress Cynthia Erivo

ACTRESS CYNTHIA Erivo will step into the shoes of one of the most iconic black women in history, playing Harriet Tubman in a new independent biopic 'Harriet'.

The film, directed by Seth Man, will be centred around Tubman, and portray her life as a slave, abolitionist, underground railroad constructor, nurse, spy and warrior.

Shooting is set to begin later this year.

Erivo played Celie in The Color Purple on Broadway and is currently working alongside Viola Davis in Steven McQueen’s thriller Widows.
