BIG WINNER: Dave

RAPPER Dave scooped up three big prizes last night (Sep 3), winning Two AIM Independent Music Awards, Breakthrough Music Act at the GQ Men of the Year Awards and revealed his cover of the magazine’s Men of the Year issue.

Shot in London by Buzz White, the cover features Dave dressed in a pale pink tux and sat alongside his beloved dog. In addition to the cover, Dave appeared at the annual GQ Awards, where he accepted Breakthrough Music Act and thanked his friends, family and Stormzy for his win.

"Thanks Stormz," laughed Dave, after Stormzy gave a great whoop from the crowd as he began his acceptance speech. "I want to say thank you to my friends, family and team and everyone who stood behind in what's been an incredible year. Thank you to God, it's been amazing. And shout out to the Netflix team, thank you to everyone working on Top Boy."

Earlier that evening at the AIM Independent Music Awards, the south Londer picked up Best Independent Album and Best Independent Track at the award ceremony. Previous winners include Stormzy, Adele and Radiohead.

Widely considered the most vital British album of recent times, Dave released Psychodrama at the beginning of March to universal acclaim. The album instantly debuted at No.1 in the Official Charts UK Album Chart on release, breaking records for the biggest first week streams for a debut British album ever. Having recently been certified Gold, Psychodrama has cemented its reputation as a modern classic and Dave as one of the most important artists of our time.

With a recent Mercury Prize nomination, a new feature on Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project and a starring role on the return of Top Boy this month, Dave continues to go from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the most important young voices of our time.
