Dave's debut album tops UK chart

SUCCESS: Dave

WIDELY CONSIDERED as the most seminal British album of recent times, Dave’s debut album ‘Psychodrama’ has gone straight in at No.1 on the Official Charts UK Album Chart.

With three tracks currently in the top 15 and ten out of the eleven songs in the top 40, the album amassed the biggest first week streams for a debut British album ever, instantly cementing both its reputation as a modern classic and Dave as one of the most important artists our time.

Taking to social media to thank his supporters, the rapper said: "Number 1 album in the country. Glory be to god. Thank you to everyone who supported cause I owe you everything. Best day of my life."

Recorded in just over a year, ‘Psychodrama’ is an intricate, complex and striking 11-track collection that encapsulates everything special and unique about the prodigal rapper. With only a handful of features (including J Hus’ first appearance on a track since last summer), the album is an unflinchingly profound piece of art that features production from frequent collaborator Fraser T Smith as well as Jae5, 169, TSB, IO, 1Mind and newcomer Kyle Evans.

In just over a year, Dave has skyrocketed into the public consciousness as an artist like no other. From becoming the youngest ever winner of an Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song for his politically-charged single ‘Question Time’, to amassing over 600m streams as a completely independent artist (not to mention becoming the second artist to debut at No.1 in the UK last year with his Fredo-assisted single ‘Funky Friday’).

Dave has undoubtedly emerged as one of the important and necessary voices to emerge in Britain today.
