Diane Abbott is replaced as Shadow Home Secretary

REPLACED: Diane Abbott

DIANE ABBOTT was replaced as Shadow Home Secretary for the rest of the election campaign after apparently falling ill.

Lyn Brown, the shadow policing minister who once quit because of Jeremy Corybn’s leadership, stood in for Ms Abbott during General Election.

The announcement made on June 7 casted doubt on whether or not Abbott would become Home Secretary if Jeremy Corbyn took power. Those doubts were confirmed when Yvette Cooper was announced as the permanent replacement for Abbott this week.

Mr Corbyn told BBC Breakfast this morning: "She is not well for a couple of days and is taking a break from the campaign. Of course Diane is somebody who works extremely hard."

On June 6 Abbott withdrew from two debates after Labour said she was unwell.

She has previously suffered embarrassment thanks to a series of awkward interviews where she has forgotten key facts and figures such as appearing to claim that it costs just £30 to hire a police officer.
