BBC RADIO 1Xtra has announced that international DJ, radio broadcaster and club curator DJ Charlesy will be joining the 1Xtra family from Friday 9 February, 2018.

In his new 7-9pm slot, London-born Charlesy will host 1Xtra’s Friday night mix-show bringing the party vibes to get the UK ready for the weekend.

Charlesy hit the limelight when he was first signed by Tinie Tempah as his official tour DJ back in 2010, playing large stadium gigs in the UK and internationally. Since then, he’s recently toured with Bugzy Malone and has gone on to become the resident DJ and curator of the Disturbing Ibiza parties, before expanding into the Dubai club scene.

Of his new role, DJ Charlesy said: “So happy to be joining the Radio 1Xtra family - can’t wait to be a part of the station that is forward thinking and is a solid part of the culture. Looking forward to bringing my take on what a Friday night should sound like!”

Mark Strippel, Head of Programmes, BBC Radio 1Xtra and Asian Network said: “1Xtra is an unparalleled platform for championing brand new UK Black music on a global scale. We’re a place where artist journeys begin, where our audience can get involved and share what they think about the latest issues, but also where our DJs bring the party like no other!

"I’m pleased to welcome Charlesy to the 1Xtra family, bringing that club vibe from the UK to Ibiza, Dubai and beyond, in the mix every Friday night.”
