Ex-footballer Andrew Cole to release autobiography

TELLING HIS TRUTH: Andrew Cole

EX-MAN Utd and Newcastle striker Andrew Cole will be releasing an autobiography this autumn.
Sports publisher Roddy Bloomfied acquired world rights from David Luxton for Fast Forward: The Autobiography which will be published on October 31.

Speaking on the autobiography, the publisher explained: “In Fast Forward, he’s [Cole] ready to tell his story in this definitive autobiography, and talk with frank honesty about not just football, but matters of race, youth crime, mental health, and of course fame; that added commodity his talent placed upon him and which he found so hard to get to grips with. The book will also contain a foreword from his father-figure, and manager at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson.”

Cole retired as a player in 2008 and is often noted as one of the most successful strikers of all time. He racked up five Premiere League titles and two FA cups. Since his retirement, he has undergone a kidney transplant and has battled with depression.

“If there is one word that neatly reflects Andrew, it’s resilience; he showed it in his legendary football career, and never more than in his life since,” the publisher added.

Fast Forward is a rare insight into the glory days of Manchester United, and into the mind of one of the world’s most inspirational football stars; for better and for worse.”

Cole said “I love football. I always have. I played the game like a punter and was never in it for the fame. Since retiring though I have faced new challenges. Serious illness and a kidney transplant have understandably changed my life and I want my new book to give an insight into the real me.

“Working on Fast Forward with my ghostwriter, Leo Moynihan has been a pleasure (and emotional) and I hope the readers take as much enjoyment from the story as we did writing it.”
