A GAMING YouTuber who was reported missing six days ago has been found dead, police have confirmed.

Desmond Amofah, who was widely known as Etika, was last heard from on June 19 at around 8pm.

Some of his possessions, including his driving licence and wallet, had been found on Manhattan Bridge on Monday.

The 29-year-old rose to popularity for posting YouTube videos and live streams of himself playing video games.

A Twitter account for the NYPD confirmed Etika had been found dead. His body was found in the East River on Tuesday morning.

“We regret to inform that Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found dead,” NYPD News tweeted.

Concerns had been raised for Etika’s welfare after he uploaded a video on to YouTube in which he discussed suicidal thoughts.

“I’m sorry for leaving such a stained legacy,” he said in the video, which was shared by other users on YouTube.

“I hope that my story maybe helps to make YouTube a better place in the future where people know boundaries and limits and how far things should go,” Variety reported Amofah said in the video which has since been taken down from YouTube.

A Change.org petition has been created by Amofah’s fans who have called for his YouTube page, which had 134,000 subscribers, to be restored.

“We, the YouTube community and the Joycon Boyz, demand that his YouTube channel be reinstated so his legacy can be archived. Years of memories are gone due to his misconduct of a few uploads, and we think someone who has done so much for the YouTube platform should be allowed to have his greatest moments archived on YouTube forever,” the petition reads.

Tributes to Amofah from fans and members of the YouTube have been posted online.

"We mourn the loss of Etika, a beloved member of our gaming creator community. All of us at YouTube are sending condolences to his loved ones and fans," YouTube Creators tweeted.
