Gayle appointed new Staines Town boss

CRAZY GANG DAYS: Gayle played for Wimbledon for eight years

EX-JAMAICA INTERNATIONAL Marcus Gayle has been appointed as manager of Conference South club Staines Town.

The former Wimbledon and Watford forward has taken over from long-serving boss, Steve Cordery, who left the club in April.

The news was announced in a press conference at the Swans’ Wheatsheaf Park home on May 15.

Gayle, who was apart of the Jamaica squad that competed at the 1998 World Cup, takes up the post after spending three-and-a-half years as reserve team manager of AFC Wimbledon.

Staines finished 15th in the league after an early season relegation battle and Gayle will become the Massive’s first-ever full-time manager.

He was chosen as boss after the club received applications from Spain, Portugal, a current manager of an African national side and from several former Premier League players.
