GUBA launch brings out the stars

GHANA’S HIGH Commission in central London played host to the press launch of the 2012 GUBA (Ghana UK Based Achievement) awards.

The third edition of the awards takes place on November 10 at the Park Plaza Hotel in London.

Among the stars at the event were Holby City actor and GUBA patron, Hugh Quarshie. He was joined by GUBA Ambassador and Team GB sprinter Jeanette Kwakye, UK’s first plus size model Philomena Kwao, and high achieving Oxford student Gillian Appau.

Also present was Professor Kweku Danso Boafo, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK.

POSITIVE

The occasion was hosted by charismatic radio presenter Henry Bonsu from Colourful Radio, who invited GUBA’s CEO and founder Dentaa to welcome and thank all present for their continued support.

She re-emphasised the need for the awards, and assured the audience that GUBA will continue to seek out talent and represent Ghana in the positive light that it deserves.

Congratulating the nominees, Dentaa declared: “All nominees are winners.”
The GUBA founder also appealed for continued sponsorship support, especially for GUBA’s Children’s Foundation which this year is focusing on raising awareness of autism in the Ghanaian community.

The Ghana High Commissioner, in congratulating the GUBA team, said: “We admire the efforts you've made.”

He was also given an award, presented by leading film maker Charles Thompson, MBE, for his continued support of GUBA over the years.
