LUCKY LONDONERS don’t need a passport to get the full international film festival experience this summer. Some of the world’s best independent films and a whole world of inspiration will be just a tube ride away.

From August 30, film fans will have the chance to experience, exclusively at Vue Islington, a powerful celebration of impactful dramas, documentaries, animations and short films from across the world at the I Will Tell Film Festival.

The opening gala screening of Ava DuVernay’s 13TH sold out within a few hours but there are still 10 nights of fun and inspiration at this year’s festival.

As usual, I Will Tell has snagged a staggering line-up of films and high profile inspirational speakers from community leaders to country ambassadors. This year’s speakers include Dionne Walker, award-winning producer of The Hard Stop, Chi-Chi Nwanoku OBE, founder of Chineke!; Europe’s first majority black and minority ethnic (BAME) Orchestra and Junior Orchestra, film directors James Pinedo (The Extrovert), Mischa Marcus (I am Still Here), Jonas Schaul (Kingston Crossroads), as well as other producers and filmmakers from the UK, USA and Europe.

The musical force is strong in this year’s festival, with the roots revival in Kingston Crossroads, jazz as a force for good in Sweet Dillard and the story of a phenomenal African-American woman’s role classical music in Caged Bird.

There will be live musical performances too, with a Sunday matinee screening of Sweet Dillard followed by a Q&A and live jazz performance, then the screening of Caged Bird as well as a chamber performance of Florence Price’s work.

Live jazz music features again at the closing gala cocktail and canape reception.

The festival includes world, European and UK premieres covering a range of issues including euthanasia, child sex slavery, relationships, immigration, the environment and overcoming adversity.
