NON-SPORTING INCIDENTS: Lazio supporters

EUROPEAN FOOTBALL’S governing body UEFA fined Italian club Lazio a total of £120,000 on January 30 following two separate incidents of racist behaviour from their supporters.

UEFA fined the Serie A side roughly £43,000 following the racist conduct of their supporters, ignition of fireworks and incidents of a non-sporting nature at their Europa League group stage game against NK Maribor in Slovenia on December 6.

The governing body also imposed a fine of roughly £77,000 on Lazio for the racist behaviour of their fans, throwing of missiles and/or fireworks, incidents of a non-sporting nature, late handling of their team sheet and late arrival at the stadium, at the Europa League group stage match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 22 in Rome.

However, Lazio avoided having to play their next Europa League match behind closed doors.

Spurs were fined approximately £8,600 for crowd disturbances at the same Group J game while Maribor received a fine of £14,600 for insufficient match organisation and throwing of missiles and/or fireworks by their supporters at their game against Lazio in December.

All clubs have two days to make an appeal.
