THE FAMILY of murdered teenager Jaden Moodie have said he had a “huge heart” and “would do anything for anyone, especially his family”.

Jaden, 14, was knocked off a moped he was riding by a black Mercedes and then stabbed multiple times. He died at the scene.

Yesterday evening, his cousin Leon Green read a statement on behalf of the family at the scene of Jaden’s murder. Jada Bailey, Jayden’s mother, was also present as the statement was read.

Green said: “Jayden was a loving, caring, bright young man who had so many hopes and dreams. He had a keen interest in all kinds of bikes and loved learning how to fix them.”

He added: “His character was infectious and anyone who met him fell in love with his charm. He had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone, especially his family.”

Green also criticised how many media outlets had covered Jaden’s murder, linking it to London’s gang violence problem and denied that the teenager was involved with any gang.

DISTRESSING: Jaden's family criticised media reports linking his death to gang violence

“It was very distressing that majority of reports about Jayden have mentioned London gangs and I would like to stress that Jayden had recently moved from Nottingham to London and had absolutely no affiliation with gangs. Focus needs to be on the fact that he has been brutally murdered in cold blood and deserves a fair chance at justice as much as anyone else in this situation,” he said.

Green appealed to anyone with information to come forward to help the family get justice for Jaden and asked for the family’s privacy to be respected.

No arrests have been made in connection to Jaden’s murder.

Yesterday the Metropolitan Police announced they had recovered the black Mercedes in Leyton that was involved in the incident.
