The Jamaica Basic Schools Foundation raises £3k with fun run

RAISNG FUNDS: Fun Run/Walk participants express their enjoyment

THE JAMAICA Basic Schools Foundation (UK) staged its third annual 10K Fun Run/Walk in Crystal Palace Park, south London recently.

The Fun Run/Walk was in aid of the charity’s on-going efforts to assist basic schools in Jamaica.

JBSF founder Josephine Williams-Brown said the turnout of participants was overwhelming and many have pledged their support for next year. This year’s Fun Run/Walk raised over £3,000.

After the walk, everyone was treated with a free breakfast courtesy of Grace Foods UK, one of JBCF’s key sponsors. The event was also sponsored by Victoria Mutual, National Bakery and Sun Land.

The next event on the JBSF’s calendar will be the annual Family Fun Day and Food Festival on Sunday, August 7 also at Crystal Palace Park to mark Jamaica’s 54th Independence celebrations. Attractions will be food stalls, musical entertainment, featuring Stephen McGregor and Chino McGregor, arts and craft, fun fair and bouncy castle for children. The event will start at 12.30 pm and finish at 7.30 pm.
