Kanye West launches social housing project, Yeezy Home

NEW VENTURE: Kanye West

LAST MONTH, Kanye West broke the news of his latest business venture on Twitter. He said: “We’re starting a Yeezy architecture arm called Yeezy home. We’re looking for architects and industrial designers who want to make the world better.”

Rendering for the affordable housing scheme has surfaced on Instagram with users getting a first glimpse of the possible construction.

Fashion designer Jalil Peraza, who previously worked on West’s DONDA label, shared the selection of images that showcased prefabricated concrete components that offer affordable living quarters.

It depicts a concrete building arranged around a courtyard, with an opening to the room in the background with a fire burning seen in the background.

The images mirror the style of Kanye’s Yeezy fashion label, which reflects his minimalistic approach.

The launch is a part of the Yeezy fashion company that the artist developed in collaboration with sportswear brand Adidas that began in 2015.

Yet West's latest leap comes as no surprise to many as the star has consistently been vocal throughout his career about his interests in architecture.

Back in 2013, he visited Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2013, where he told students that “the world can be saved through design”.

While the rapper is yet to disclose more on the architectural project, his plans have been praised on social media for using architecture for social change.
