FEELING LUCKY: Kerry Washington
ACTRESS KERRY Washington says she's the "luckiest broad in Hollywood" after landing a succession of leading roles in the acting capital.
The 36-year-old star, who starred alongside Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino blockbuster Django Unchained earlier this year, says she is finally content with her place in Hollywood.
"To be the lead actor on Scandal and to be in the highest-earning Tarantino movie- I don’t get to ask for more."
Earlier this year, Washington won an Image Awards for her portrayal of sassy former White House press officer Olivia Pope in Scandal, a political thriller TV series.
Despite her recent success, Washington has had a slow but sure career over the past decade plus, with supporting roles in films like Save the Last Dance, Ray and The Last King of Scotland.
In an interview with this month's Elle Magazine, the revealed that if a career in Hollywood hadn't worked out, she would have considered a role in "the healing of people."
She said: "I imagined I’d be a clinical psychologist, with a focus on how performance shapes identity.
"I’d figure out ways to use role-playing in the healing of people."
Washington stars alongside funny-man Craig Robinson and comedian David Allen Grier in upcoming film Peeples.
The June issue of Elle is out on May 21
