Kitenge Festival UK returns to London

KITENGE FESTIVAL UK: The one-day event showcases and celebrates African culture

KITENGE FESTIVAL UK is London’s premier African cultural event which aims to unite, educate and promote African fashion, culture, business and the arts in the UK.

The one-day event, taking place on August 3, showcases Africa’s valuable and distinctive heritage in a carnival atmosphere while promoting the rejuvenation of communities and instilling a sense of African pride in those who attend. Now in its seventh year, the event has grown exponentially, drawing local and international crowds and vendors.

This event is aimed at strengthening community cohesion, peer promotion, bringing artists together, promoting small business enterprises, empowering those participating through motivational speakers and transforming lives through youth initiatives and annual fundraising events to help victims of domestic abuse in the community through Kitenge Festival's charity programme Hope Alive Mission.

The event is open to the general public and will be attended by influential figures, community leaders and tastemakers that take active roles in setting the mould for style, cultural trends and overall ingenuity within the African community.

The goal is to bring together bright minds, industry insiders to give talks that are idea-focused on a wide range of subjects to foster business, learning, inspiration and provoke conversations.

Expect great music, live performances, networking, product sampling, African cuisine, vendor stalls, gift bags, cultural dancers, competitions, poetry, fashion shows and craft displays.

Performances: Sam Dondo (Zimbabwe), Marianna & the Zappi Band (Italy), Jennifer Sobola (Nigeria), Peter Rhymer (Uganda).
