Kylie Jenner on blackface photo-shoot criticism: 'Calm down'

LIGHTING EFFECTS: Kim Kardashian's youngest sister Kylie Jenner

REALITY TELEVISION star Kylie Jenner has told people to “calm down” after accusations she posed in 'blackface' for a photoshoot.

The controversy started over the weekend when the 17-year-old sister of socialite Kim Kardashian posted a photo from the shoot with the caption, “What I wish I looked like all the time.”

In the shot photographed by Marcelo Cantu, the reality TV star dons dark silver sparkles, which some people perceived to be offensive.

The photo and caption caused a huge backlash on social media, with many accusing the model of being disrespectful.

On Twitter, one person wrote: "I have had to deal with Kylie Jenner doing blackface today and I don't need the extra nonsense."

Another unimpressed Twitter user joked: "Why does kylie jenner even need to darken her skin isn’t she dark enough already standing in her sisters’ shadows."

After hearing about the backlash, the teenager tweeted: "So just got the time to head on social media lol.. The photographer used a black light & neon lights for those photos."

She then tweeted: "Yes, In another world I wish I could have pink hair & blue eyes & covered in sparkles."

In response to the controversy, Jenner also changed the caption of the Instagram photo to: “This is a black light and neon lights people lets all calm down.”
