Labour MP backs cheeky charity calendar campaign

GOOD CAUSE: Dawn Butler MP and two of the Warwick Rowers

IT WASN'T the hot air in the House of Commons chamber that left MPs feeling all flustered yesterday (Oct 25). Rather, the scantily clad Warwick Rowers had the corridors of power steaming up after a cheeky photoshoot with Labour MP Dawn Butler.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Equalities invited a pair of the infamous rowing team to her Westminster office to hear all about their annual naked charity calendar, which officially went on sale this week.

Warwick University’s men’s rowing team created the cheeky calendar for Sport Allies, the charity that aims to combat homophobia in sport.

The sporty boys presented the Labour MP and her colleagues with a new report highlighting homophobia in sport. It calls on Parliament to back a campaign urging sporting bodies and authorities to ban homophobic language.

The campaign has won the backing of Dawn Butler and other senior MPs who were handed signed copies of the raunchy calendar by Rowers Lucas and Jorge.

An insider said: “Parliament can be known for its frosty atmosphere but the boys certainly warmed things up. It is all for a good cause after all.”
