SPECIAL INVITE: The Compozers with Lauryn Hill (centre)

NORTH LONDON band The Compozers received a special invitation from superstar Lauryn Hill to perform at a diversity concert in New York City.

The musicians, who hale from Tottenham, were personally invited by the former Fugees lead singer to play at Diaspora Calling! - a three-day music and art festival hosted by Hill and Tidal X.

After watching their video, A Night with The Compozers 3, online Hill requested that the group play live at the special concert at Kings Theatre in New York City which was streamed live on Tidal.

The event, which took place last week Friday (Apr 15) had an array of Afro-Caribbean artists including son of Reggae legend Bob Marley, Stephen Marley and Afrobeats artist Stonebwoy.

The band consists of drummer Stephen, bassist Nana ‘Poakes’ along with keyboardists David ‘Melodee’ and Charlie ‘Biggz’.

On performing at Diaspora Calling!, David is ecstatic about performing in front of 3,000 people “We’re still in shock, to have been recognised by none other than Ms Lauryn herself is truly humbling.

"This proves that with hard work, faith and persistence absolutely anything is possible.”

Cementing music as a long standing movement, The Compozers performed all over the country during last year's festival circuit, including Wireless Festival, V Festival and Glastonbury. Last September saw the boys headline their first West African tour in both Nigeria and Ghana, selling out four dates.
