CLAIMS: Leona Lewis
A MUSIC producer has entered a plea at the High Court to be heard on Monday (Aug 8), claiming that the instrumental used in Leona’s new track, Collide
Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, who is also a singer, says that the X Factor winner’s upcoming single, produced by Fraser T Smith, is actually his creation.
Bergling’s manager Arash Pournouri claims that consent was not given to Leona or Syco, her record label, for use of the sample.
If the court rules in Bergling’s favour, the release of the Lewis’ new single, due out in September, will be halted.
Reports say Avicii recorded his track as an instrumental in October 2010 before being signed with record label Ministry of Sound.
A spokesman for Ministry of Sound said: “Avicii is an up-and-coming talent; we think he should be given a fair crack at making this record the hit it deserves to be.”
Syco, a label owned by the singer’s mentor, Simon Cowell, has not made a comment.
