Man arrested for vandalising Stephen Lawrence memorial

VICTIM: Stephen Lawrence memorial vandalised

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage after he allegedly defaced the memorial plaque of murdered teen, Stephen Lawrence.

The unnamed 33-year-old man was taken into custody by Police in Greenwich in connection with the vandalism, and was bailed from Plumstead Police Station yesterday (Oct 9).

CCTV of the October 1 incident shows a man throwing a glass bottle on the plaque which marks the place where the 18-year-old was stabbed to death during a racist attack in April 1993.

The suspect will return to police custdy on October 27 pending further enquiries.
