BOSS CALL: Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini says no to racism (PA)

CHILEAN MANAGER Manuel Pellegrini has issued a warning to CSKA Moscow fans telling them to not repeat any racial abuse that was directed at Manchester City’s Yaya Toure during the previous fixture in Russia.

The City boss was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash between the Manchester club and CSKA at the Etihad.

Ugly scenes two weeks ago saw Toure, 30, abused with monkey noises – Uefa has since charged the Russian side for failing to control its fans and ordered them to close a section of their ground for their next European home tie which is against Bayern Munich.

Pellegrini said: “The CSKA fans made a mistake.

“Uefa acted and gave them the punishment it deserved.

“I hope we can leave this in the past and it will be an example for them.”

He added Russian have a duty to behave in a respectful manner because “they have a World Cup in their country” in 2018.

Following the ill-fated game in Moscow last month, Toure said he was “furious” about the abuse he suffered, and told Fifa and Uefa to “do their jobs” to combat racism in the sport.

During the match in Moscow, Toure complained to the match official about the racist abuse, but the referee failed to take 2009 Uefa measures to prevent players being subject to further racism.

The referee’s inaction led to anti-racism campaign organisation Kick It Out calling for the Romanian official to be banned.
