Marvin Winans driving while suspended

SCANDAL: Marvin Winans in 'suspended license' controversy

RECORDS HAVE shown that Detroit pastor and gospel singing icon Marvin Winans' driver's license was suspended when he was carjacked last week.

The Detroit police department were said to be a warrant out for his arrest of the megachurch leader, after the state suspended Winans' license May 9 because he failed to pay two traffic tickets issued in December, according to The Detroit News.

Winans said in a statement Thursday that he had not received any notifications and claimed that he had changed addresses.

He also said that he was 'working to resolve the issues' before the carjacking.

Winans, who delivered singer Whitney Houston's eulogy in February, was attacked on May 16 at a petrol station in Detroit.

Three young men have been charged and face up to life in prison if convicted.
