A LONDON Metropolitan Police Officer is facing an investigation after her appearance on the Nigerian version of Big Brother.
PC Khafi Kareem, 29, who joined the police force in 2015 and was pictured alongside Commissioner Cressida Dick during celebrations recognising the inclusion of women in the Met over the past 100 years, is said to have defied bosses orders to take part in the reality television show.

The Met said Ms Kareem had been granted unpaid leave for an “unrelated reason” but that no green light had been given to her request to appear in the programme.

A Met spokesman said: “The Met is aware that the officer has since appeared on the show without authority. The directorate of professional standards has been informed and will be carrying out an investigation into the circumstances. The Met does not support the officer’s appearance nor does she represent the Met whilst appearing on the show.”

With the look of a lynch mob conspiring against her, an anonymous colleague from Scotland Yard told The Sun: “She’s a serving British police officer – it’s outrageous. She asked permission to go on the show, but when her request was refused, she went anyway.”

If that wasn’t enough, The Sun came under fire for their recent headline Loin of Duty, which came under criticism by Ms Kareem’s management for their portrayal of her as a ‘poster girl for the Met engaging in steamy-on-romp scenes’ during the show with fellow contestant, Ekpata Gedoni.

On Ms Kareem’s twitter feed, a press release signed off as “management” said the following:
“Khafi is a proud black female police officer who prides herself in her work and has dedicated her youthful years protecting and serving with her many skills which include the ability to speak at least five international languages.”

Africa Magic – the television channel which broadcasts Big Brother Naija, posted on their website that Ms Kareem joined the show so that she do good in society.

The statement reads: “Police Officer Khalfi Kareem believes that you can have it all if you believe in yourself. She is not only hoping to win the prize money but she wants the exposure that being in Big Brother Naija brings so that she can do societal good. What people don’t know about her is that she is secretly talented in spoken word, singing and dancing. She is an Ekiti native who resides in London.”

With a 30 million naira (£68,000) prize being offered to the winner of the show, Ms Kareem, should she win, is reportedly planning to use the money on hosting a travel show in Nigeria while also investing in charitable causes.

The Met, however, have said that any officer found to have breached police standards of professional behaviour could face misconduct proceedings.
