Michael Jackson's father 'left blind after stroke'

HOSPITALISED: Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson has been celebrating his 87th birthday when he suffered a stroke

THE FATHER of Michael Jackson has reportedly been left blind after suffering a stroke in Brazil.

Joe Jackson, who guided his children to success as The Jackson 5, had been celebrating his 87th birthday but was taken to hospital in São Paulo after waking up feeling dizzy with no vision.

It is currently unknown if Joe will only be temporarily without his sight.

Family sources told TMZ doctors are running tests to discover exactly what had happened and are deciding whether to fly the talent manager, who suffers from diabetes, back to the United States for further treatment.

Jackson Sr had been planning to officially celebrate his birthday yesterday evening with a bash totaling up to $200,000, according to his website.

“Join me on the 26th of July to celebrate 87 full years on earth. The greatest adventure you can take on this world, is to live your life and enjoy the ride,” he said in an invite posted on his website.

It is not thought that any of his famous children joined him for his birthday celebration.

Youngest daughter, singer Janet Jackson, tweeted a message for her father via her Instagram account.

“Wishing my Father, ‪@Joe5Jackson a Happy Birthday. I want to tell the world, I love and honor you.”

She then tweeted a link to her new single No Sleep, where she features a picture of her elderly father.
