Michael Page calls out Paul Daley

COMPETITION: Venom wants 'Paula'

HE’S NEVER called out another mixed martial artist but Michael ‘Venom’ Page (MVP) says he feels disrespected by fellow Briton Paul Daley following comments from the Nottingham fighter comparing him to boxer Adrien Broner.

Things got heated at a recent Bellator press conference where Daley or ‘Paula’ as MVP kept referring to him as, told the media that Page would have to wait his turn before he could have a shot at fighting him. Page, 29, and Daley are both set to fight on the May 19 Bellator card at Wembley Arena.

Talking to the Voice of Sport Page, whose opponent will be announced in the next week, said: “Its weird because I thought Paul and I were cool, but he made these comments, comparing himself to Mayweather and me to Adrien Broner, on more than one occasion.

DISRESPECT

“My thing is, if he said it to my face then I wouldn’t have been as offended, that would have been Paul Daley doing what he does when the cameras are on. “Every time we have both been asked the question (about fighting each other) we’ve always said the same thing; if it happens it happens, but neither of us was hungry for that fight because we were both on our own missions.

“But now he has disrespected me I’m calling him out because I don’t care if we do fight or we don’t but if we do, I’m coming for him.”

Daley, told the Voice of Sport that he didn’t understand why Page had felt disrespected by the comments he’d made but issued a warning to Page anyway. He said: “He says it’s personal, I’ve no idea why. For me, I don’t duck fights, I’m calm, approachable but at the end of the day I am a fighter, lets not get it twisted.

“If you ask me for a fight you are going to get a fight. He will get the fight that he called for, after I fight Rory MacDonald, and when he gets it, I hope he’s still smiling afterwards.”
