INSPIRED: Tolu Frimpong and her family

A MUM-of-two is set to launch new DIY kits that allows customers to add something sweeter to their event by recreating luxury candy buffets conveniently.

Tolu Frimpong from Croydon launched Something Sweeter, a bespoke candy buffet and candy cart company, in 2014 and has expanded her fleet to offer customised kits providing convenience to her customers which will launch in Autumn 2017.

“I started my career in marketing and worked in that industry for 10 years and I was comfortable. When I fell pregnant with my first child it gave me the chance to evaluate what I wanted to achieve in the future, combining my strengths and ambition was what brought the birth of Something Sweeter. Seeing other empowering mothers start a business after they had children inspired me to do the same and be an example to the next generation”, says Tolu said.

The DIY kits, launching later on this year, will allow consumers to pick a primary colour and two optional secondary colours suitable for their theme. Each kit hired will come with tablecloths, sweets, jars, scoops and sweet bags and even comes with step-by-step instructions on how to create the perfect DIY candy buffet. Once the event is completed consumers can send the jars and scoops back in the same box with prepaid postage.

This is a great way to unite guests at weddings, it brings people of all ages together, sparks conversations, and gives them the opportunity to hand pick their wedding favours rather than get given a generic one.

Frimpong continues;

“The Candy Buffet trend originally started off in the US and Australia where sweet treats was just as mandatory at every event as a birthday cake. Whereas the market is still emerging in the UK and is set to grow rapidly over the next five years with more and more weddings and events incorporating this trend.”
