Naomi Campbell fronts beauty campaign for the first time

BEAUTY CAMPAIGN: Naomi Campbell is the new face of french makeup brand Nars

NAOMI CAMPBELL is fronting a beauty campaign for the first time ever as the new face of makeup brand Nars.

The 48-year-old model has broken barriers in her industry over the decades but it's only now that she’s been booked to front a beauty campaign, something many believe is long overdue.

Campbell, who has worked with Nars repeatedly throughout her career, said: “François and I are like family and the same goes for Nars. I am honoured to be a part of such an incredible brand for so long."

In a statement, Francois Nars, the founder of the French brand, said: "Naomi is a living icon and brings such strong personality to the camera.

“She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style.”

Campbell will be the face of the cosmetics line’s Radiance Repowered range for the first half of 2019.

Many people have been shocked that it's the first time the legendary supermodel, who has been working in the industry since her teens, will front a beauty campaign.

British model Leomie Anderson said on Twitter: "The reason this is her first beauty campaign is because she would turn down opportunities or contracts when she knew her white counter parts were being paid more."

Anderson, who has been outspoken about issues she's faced as one of few high profile dark-skinned black models, has been booked for Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath's cosmetics line, Pat McGrath labs.
