Modern Woman:

Weaves and braids are increasingly becoming part of the modern woman of colour’s daily routine and when handled with care, there is no reason why the experience shouldn’t be a positive one.

First, it is important to understand your natural hair type as this will dictate how you structure a successful natural hair maintenance plan.

Must Grow's tips:

Here are a few tips for when you are considering weaves and braids...

Tight and/or bulky weaves will put stress on your hair and in particular, the hair line. This will most likely lead to hair loss and breakage.

Braids and weaves should not be left in your hair for any longer than six weeks. This is to ensure that your hair gets a chance to breathe and be treated. At this point, applying Must Grow could work wonders.

Consider using a good quality netting cap when weaving your hair as this creates less stress on your hair during the period that the weave is in place.

Be aware that some chemicals used in treatment of synthetic and 100% human hair can cause irritation to the scalp, especially if your scalp is sensitive. This normally leads to excessive itching which can then result in hair loss which can sometimes be permanent, as well as scabbing and scarring.

Routine is key:

Here at Must Grow our research tells us that many women simply and conveniently forget about their natural hair when it’s tucked away in a weave, in braids or under a wig.

Create a simple routine for caring for your hair at a specific time each day that suits you– run your fingers through your weave rows, braids and if needed apply Must Grow as and when needed - above all never let your natural hair dry out.

The miracle that is Must Grow

We always get asked the question, 'what is in Must Grow that makes it so special?'

Must Grow is a product which contains many natural ingredients that are beneficial and completely dedicated to your natural hair growth.

Below, we outline the benefits of just two of the natural ingredients included this amazing product - over time we will outline a few more:

Grape seed oil

Grape seed oil is a great sealant with equally great moisturising properties. The grapevine is one the oldest cultivated plants in the world – grape seed oil dates back well over 6,000 years. Crushing the seeds of grapes by extraction or pressing creates the oil.

The high amount of linoleic acid in the grape seed oil is a type of omega-6 fatty acid that can combat dryness, hence providing protection against moisture loss, which makes it a great choice for afro hair care.

Another bonus is that grape seed oil contains vitamin E – essential for healthy hair and aids growth.

Hemp seed oil

Hemp seed oil is commonly known for promoting hair growth and strengthening hair structure due to its varied fatty acid content.

It is obtained by the pressing of the seeds which produces a clear to dark coloured oil. Its use was discovered in China over 8,000 years ago and has since been used and more so recently in various commercial products.

It contains essential fatty acids (EFAs) such as omega-3, omega- 6, omega-9 and linoleic acid – crucial for sustained hair maintenance and aiding growth.

The gamma linoleic acid (GLA) present in hemp seed oil helps to retain water and protein in the hair structure whilst protecting and repairing hair fibres for stronger, healthier hair strands. It improves elasticity and conditions the hair all in one.
