Natural hair show this weekend

AN EXCITING natural hair show returns to the West Midlands tomorrow (Saturday 25 March) with Khembe’s Return to your Roots event for everyone who loves the beauty of all-natural afro hair.

Entrepreneur and stylist Khembe Clarke is hosting her fourth natural hair show, which will include more than 60 stalls showcasing African clothes, fabrics, jewellery, massage therapy, as well as the latest health and beauty products.

Other exciting elements include a special fun workshop for men, transitioning to locs – the do’s and don’ts, proper car of your child’s hair, courtesy of Cantu Beauty, nutrition tips, plus live entertainment and after-party by Wassifa from 9pm to 2am.

If you’re in the hairdressing professions, you're sure to want to attend on Sunday 26 and Monday 27 to see Lamont Morris from Atlanta, Georgia, who will present The Full Monti Naturalcation Boot Camp. This is aimed at people interested in natural hairdressing skills, meeting the needs of clients with natural hair, how to earn an income from hairdressing and how to grow client bases.

Speakers will include Louise Owusu-Kwarteng, who will talk about the politics of natural hair; Kesheni on ‘Kesheniarts’ and Dr. Erica McInnis on developing identity and wellbeing.

An event spokesperson said:

“If you’re on the journey to natural hair or have already made the step and need advice about hair care products, styling and need inspiration to try something new, come an experience the unique versatility of your natural hair.

“A panel of technicians, stylists and well-being experts will provide advice and guidance on how to achieve a stylish, cutting edge you.”

More than 500 people are expected at the event which is being held from 10am at the H Suite, Icknield Port Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B16 0AA.
