SOON TO be known as what they describe as the ‘Oscars’ of the black beauty industry, the launch of the most anticipated cosmetics and style awards, the Black Beauty and Fashion Awards™ (BBFA), took place on Tuesday July 11 2017 at the House of Commons.

Hosted by Chi Onwurah MP, Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy Science and Innovation; the opening event welcomed industry movers and shakers and a flurry of social media influencers.

"We have come a long way since I was growing up – there are now supermodels with darker skin tones, and just about every fashion advert has the apparently obligatory Afro. But there is still a long way to go,” said Onwurah.

Founded by London-based Cosmetic Scientist, Cheryl Jumbo, Black Beauty and Fashion Awards™ was created with the vision of advancing the cosmetic care industry and championing diversity in the UK. BBFA is the first of its kind and is already well on its way to revolutionising the UK’s beauty and fashion industry.

From the manufacturers to the marketplace, BBFA celebrate excellence, reward businesses and encourage entrepreneurs in the development and manufacturing of specialised products and services suitable for use by black/multiracial men and women the entire length and breadth of the UK.
