Police brutality takes place in South Africa

A MAN has been killed at the hands of A 27-year-old Tshwane Metro police officer, who reportedly shot him dead near Pretoria, South Africa.

The deceased man who was a father of two, was reportedly on his way to work when he apparently failed to stop at a roadblock outside the Hatfield Gautrain Station in Pretoria.


CASUALTY

The officer, Contable Takatso Mashego, reportedly shot and killed the man on Friday morning. Netcare911 paramedics initiated CPR but the man couldn't be revived.

Tshwane metro police say the officer involved was a new recruit, and he was arrested after the shooting.

The SAPS released a statement, saying "The officer was arrested and the case will be referred to IPID for further investigation."

UPDATE: Mashego has now been granted bail in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.
