OPENING: Jamaica’s former High Commissioner, Ms Aloun Ndombet Assamba, cuts the ceremonial ribbon to signal the opening of the new premises to the delight of Managing Director Edward Johnston

PORT ROYAL Patties, the UK-based pastry and food manufacturer, recently celebrated 15 years of production by opening their new factory in Wembley, north-west London.

Jamaica’s High Commissioner, Ms Aloun Ndombet Assamba, in one of her last official duties, cut the ceremonial ribbon to signal the opening of the new premises to the delight of Managing Director Edward Johnston.

Ms Assamba congratulated Johnson and his team for establishing Port Royal Patties as one of the leading distributers of the popular Jamaican pastry in the UK.

Speaking during the celebrations which followed, Johnston said: “After 15 years operating in Willesden, we decided the time was right to move to these new premises, which now gives us 12,000 square feet of usable space with new baking and refrigeration equipment which will boost our output while being more efficient.

“We are now able to manufacture 17,000 patties per day to supply supermarkets, restaurants, food take-away outlets and convenience stores, but this can be doubled at any time based on demand. We will also be focusing on our new ingredients which will make the patties flakier, just like you get at home in Jamaica,” Johnston said.
