THE PROFESSIONAL Football Association of Jamaica (PFAJ), running since 2008, has been dissolved.

This is a shock announcement from the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) who consulted the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) on setting new goals on the Caribbean island.

The PFAJ was a joint venture body between the JFF and the PLCA, with the sole role to administer the running and operations of Jamaica's National Premier League - which is also known for sponsorship purposes as the Red Stripe Premier League.

The two bodies in coming to a mutual agreement, concluded that the original objective for the establishment of the PFAJ could now best be achieved without a third body.

Both entities will continue to meet to finalise the roles of the two entities going forward as Jamaica concentrate on reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar.
