QPR coach accused of racism

INVESTIGATION: QPR are looking into racism claims

A HIGHLY regarded Queens Park Rangers youth-team coach has been suspended by the west London club after allegations of racism were made.

The coach, Mark Langton, on a full-time contract at Loftus Road, was sent an official letter in which QPR informed him of his suspension. Club owner Tony Fernandes has launched an internal investigation, and Langton will not be allowed back to work until it has been concluded.

Reports indicate the allegations relate to an event that took place before Christmas when Langton released several youth-team footballers.

It is understood one of the released players and his father then complained to the club about Langton, alleging he had racially abused him.

The accused coach has been a respected member of the coaching set-up, and was known for his commanding style. His colleagues have spoken of their surprise about the claims. They will also be part of the internal investigation to help establish the truth.

QPR confirmed an investigation into Langton had been initiated, and that the coach had been told.

Fernandes is adamant a full inquiry will be carried out, and has promised to support all efforts to get to the bottom of the allegations.
