Rickie and Melvin join new BBC Radio 1 Late Night Show

HOSTS: Rickie Williams, Charlie Hedges and Melvin Odoom

RICKIE WILLIAMS, Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges will be joining BBC Radio 1 as the new hosts of the station’s late night show (Monday-Thursday, 9-11pm) starting next year.

Currently presenters of The Kiss 100 Breakfast Show - the biggest commercial breakfast show in London - the trio will take over permanently after Charlie Sloth left the station in October. The show will feature those candid conversations between friends – after the watershed - while playing new music chosen by Rickie, Melvin and Charlie.

Having met at university, Rickie and Melvin are regulars on the entertainment scene, presenting for the likes of BBC Three, ITV 2, Channel 4 and MTV, as well as previously hosting the MOBO Awards. Melvin has also hosted The Xtra Factor and even donned his glad rags for BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing and ITV’s Take Me Out celebrity edition.

Charlie began her music career DJing at international events and festivals such as Ministry of Sound, Global Gathering, V Festival and Space Ibiza, playing alongside some of the biggest names in dance, including Carl Cox and Steve Aoki and others.

Of their new hosting duties, Rickie, Melvin and Charlie said: “We’re so excited to be joining the Radio 1 family and bringing all our energy and entertainment to the station. Hearing a new side to us as we get to showcase the music we love.”

Ben Cooper, Controller, Radio 1 & 1Xtra added: “Radio 1 needs to keep disrupting, keep changing, keep surprising our audiences and our industry. Can’t wait to tune in to hear Rickie, Melvin and Charlie on Radio 1 with an exciting mix of late night humour and great new music.”
