BUSINESS BUDDIES: Jamal Edwards with Virgin founder Richard Branson
JAMAL EDWARDS, the young entrepreneur who founded popular urban YouTube channel SB.TV, has penned a deal with Virgin Books.
The company has an established relationship with Edwards, Virgin boss Richard Branson has collaborated with the youth broadcaster in a number of projects – Branson also was interviewed on SB.TV last year.
Yet this formal deal means Edwards write a six-part eBook series, titled ‘The Sound Business Challenge’.
The series’ senior editor Hannah Knowles said: “Jamal has been a defining face of the Digital Age so this innovative approach works perfectly for his demographic. I’m excited that we’re experimenting with traditional formats, and doing so with such a ground-breaking entrepreneur.”
The series will feature interactive elements, engaging the reader in ways not possible with traditional books.
“In each of the six downloadable 'levels' the reader works through a different stage of setting up a business”, Knowles said.
“There are crunch decision points where you have to choose which path you'll take on your own business journey, which might lead you to success, but might also lead to ruin.
“The eBook works by links, so the reader doesn't have the easy option of flicking through to find out the 'correct' path, and has to follow their chosen route”, she added.
