SHOCK: 42-year-old Rev Zachery Tims was found dead in his hotel room last Friday

THE SUDDEN death of a well-known US pastor has left members of the Christian faith community in shock.

Pastor Zachary Tims was found dead in a hotel room in New York last Friday.

The church leader represented a congregation of 8,000 and was the overseer of a Florida megachurch.

Rev Tims, of New Destiny Christian Center (NDCC), often appeared on TBN’s Praise the Lord programme was discovered by security who alerted police.

Police have ruled out foul play at this point. The cause of death is yet to be established, officials said.

It is still unclear if Rev Tims, 42, had been alone in the hotel room.

The church leader and his family founded New Destiny Christian Center (NDCC) in 1996 where he served as senior pastor.

A message was posted on NDCC’s website on Sunday informing congregants that a meeting would be held to discuss Pastor Tims death.
